Adjusting to our new life

The afternoon the cast went on. Molly's cousin, Addison, came over to visit and play for a while. Molly is able to get up on hands and knees and even scoot around a bit.

Flexibility is the key to life:
She will no longer fit in the highchair in the traditional way, but if we sort of stick the full casted leg up on the side she can sit and eat no problem.

Her left leg only has a cast to above the knee so that left leg just kicks away!

Our Journey Begins

Molly before the procedure

She was able to nurse right away which calmed her down

Here she is in all her bright pink glory. Dr. Singh got creative and put Molly's name on the top of the cast

Hi Everyone,

Many of you may know that Molly was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia. This is a condition where the ball of the femur doesn't stay in the hip socket. She had a procedure done today where the orthopedic doctor put the ball of her leg back into the socket and then applied a cast to help keep the leg in that position. She will have this cast for about 6 weeks and then we will go back in and she will be sedated and have a new cast put on for another 6 weeks. She did wonderfully today and the doctor was very pleased with the position of her hip. Molly is mildly uncomfortable, which is not at all surprising, but the doctor assures me that the little ones get used to the cast very quickly. I have a feeling she will get used to it all before I do! Thank you all for keeping all of us in your thoughts and prayers and be sure to check back for updates.

Video of EJ as Alpha Pig

EJ the Alpha Pig

One of EJ's favorite shows is Super Why? on PBS. There is a character known as Alpha Pig and he has alphabet power. Each morning EJ dresses up as Alpha Pig in his super hero cape, construction hat and hammer to watch the show. I can't complain in the slightest about his desire to emulate a character that wants to read, write and spell. It definitely could be worse!

Grandpa and Daddy time

My boys having such a fun afternoon

A huge pile of leaves falling on him

Molly's turn to play

Miss Molly in the leaves

She wasn't quite sure what we were doing to her

We call this her scrunchy face. When she gets happy or excited she scrunchs up her nose and makes the cutest little face.

She really wanted to get one of those leaves into her mouth

They were playing so nice together

The work is done...time to play!

I think he looks SO grown up in this picture!

Daddy was making it rain leaves

Raking leaves

EJ was a great helper to Grandpa. He even had a little rake just his size.

Trick or Treat

The whole family getting ready to trick or treat

It is just about impossible to get a good picture of the two kids so I posted a few of the better ones

EJ was pretty much done by this point

The Cutest Little Pumpkin Ever!

I couldn't decide which picture of Molly to pick so I just went with all of them. She was a little pumpkin or pumpkin ballerina.

EJ with his spooky pumpkin

EJ started off helping Daddy, Uncle Dan and Uncle Joe carve the pumpkins, but as you can see in the previous picture, soon it was just Paco finishing up the work. The scary pumpkin turned out Great!
